After being humiliated by Alberto Del Rio on last week’s SmackDown and taking his aggression out on Alex Riley, Yoshi Tatsu, & Matt Striker on RAW, the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, kicks off SmackDown just two nights before he challenges Del Rio for the gold at Elimination Chamber. Big Show says that he hopes that Del Rio and the fans are “happy” because three people suffered his “wrath” on RAW. Big Show then says that Del Rio has “never pinned” him and the World Heavyweight Champion will never pin him! Big Show then vows to turn Del Rio’s “fiesta” into a “siesta” on Sunday, but the giant is then interrupted by one of the six participants in the Elimination Chamber Match and a former tag team partner of Big Show, “Y2J” Chris Jericho. Jericho says that he has known Big Show for sixteen years and he knows what Big Show is feeling right now. Big Show argues that, if Jericho truly knows him, then Y2J should not be anywhere near him. Jericho declares that, despite his other endeavors, he is back in the WWE and he is working harder than ever! Jericho then says that Big Show is feeling some “doubt” regarding Alberto Del Rio, but says that Big Show is the “biggest force” in the WWE. Jericho continues, saying that he has main-evented WrestleMania and has competed in more Elimination Chamber Matches than anyone and, when he wins the Chamber Match, there is a very good chance that it will be Big Show vs. Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania! Big Show says that, if that is the case, it will be the “last WrestleMania appearance” of Jericho’s career, telling Jericho to get out of the ring before he makes sure that Jericho does not even make it to the pay-per-view. SmackDown General Manager Booker T then intervenes, saying that they do not know for sure if Big Show vs. Jericho will happen at WrestleMania, but announces that, tonight on SmackDown, Big Show and Chris Jericho will go one-on-one!
In a rematch from last week’s SmackDown, two of the six Elimination Chamber participants (along with Kane, Daniel Bryan, Jack Swagger, & Chris Jericho) would go one-on-one as the opening match of the night saw nine-time World Champion “The Viper” Randy Orton collide with “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry. During the match, Randy Orton would go for the RKO on Mark Henry, but Mark Henry would dodge the move before knocking Orton to the outside. Once on the outside, Mark Henry would try to deliver the World’s Strongest Slam to Orton, but Orton would fight out of the move. “The Viper” would then grab a steel chair, driving it into the mid-section of Mark Henry and, back in the ring, Orton would deliver a second shot with the steel chair, this time to Henry’s back! However, when Orton goes for a third chair shot, Henry would block it, tossing the chair away before catching “The Viper” and squashing him with the World’s Strongest Slam! If a steel chair cannot stop Mark Henry, what chance do the other five Elimination Chamber participants have this Sunday?
Backstage, Mark Henry snatches a microphone away from a frightened Matt Striker as Henry tells Striker that he has been out of action for nine months, frustrated about his return. Henry continues, saying that the Hall of Pain is re-opened for business and, on Sunday, they are going to lock five Superstars in the Elimination Chamber with him. Henry then says that they better have the police and even the army on standby because no one is going to stop him and he will be heading to WrestleMania!
Before she challenges Kaitlyn for the Divas Championship at Elimination Chamber, Tamina Snuka would go one-on-one with former champion Layla on SmackDown. In the end, it was Tamina Snuka landing the Superfly Splash on Layla en route to picking up the win.
After CM Punk laid him out with the GTS and took his WWE Title on RAW, “The People’s WWE Champion” The Rock would appear on SmackDown, without the title belt, just two nights before he defends the WWE Title against CM Punk at Elimination Chamber. The Rock says that CM Punk ran off with his WWE Title belt, but all that Punk did was make a “trade” as Punk has the title belt until Sunday and, in exchange, Punk will get the “ass-whooping” of his life! Rock continues, saying that he is going to treat Punk like the “spoiled, little boy” that he is. The Rock says that he is a “man” and it took him ten long years to get the WWE Title back, but it will only take him one night to make sure that Punk will never touch it again. CM Punk and Paul Heyman then appear via satellite with the WWE Title belt as Punk says that, at the Royal Rumble, The Rock committed “grand larceny”. Punk continues, saying that he wants The Rock to “snap” and get disqualified at Elimination Chamber and, per the stipulation, he will win the WWE Title. Punk says that he defeated The Rock at the Royal Rumble and he will do it again this Sunday, claiming that he will “still” be the WWE Champion. The Rock responds, saying that Punk’s words are “worthless” and, regardless of what went down at the Rumble, at the end of the night, Punk got beat! The Rock continues, saying that, on Monday morning, it will hit Punk that he failed to beat The Rock. Rock then says that he is a “steamroller of a man” and he will beat Punk at Elimination Chamber and go on to WrestleMania as the WWE Champion and Punk knows it!
The unusual and unexpected team of Brodus Clay & Tensai, with The Funkadactyls in their corner, was in action on SmackDown as they faced two-thirds of 3MB, Heath Slater & Jinder Mahal, with Drew McIntyre in their corner. In the end, it was Brodus Clay hitting the Funkasplash on Jinder Mahal en route to picking up the win for him and Tensai. After the match, however, the celebration was ended with the arrival of The Shield as, after getting The Funkadactyls out of harm’s way, Brodus Clay & Tensai prepare themselves for battle. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns then hit the ring, taking Tensai to the outside and sending him into the steel steps. Back in the ring, The Shield manages to hoist Brodus Clay up into the air, dropping “The Funkasaurus with their three-man powerbomb. Following the attack, Dean Ambrose vows that the scene will be similar this Sunday at Elimination Chamber when John Cena, Ryback, & Sheamus will be put on trial and “sentenced” by The Shield!
Despite being bandaged up as a result of an attack by his Elimination Chamber opponent, Antonio Cesaro, on RAW, The Miz would go one-on-one with Cody Rhodes on SmackDown. Despite his injuries, The Miz would manage to lock in the Figure-Four Leg Lock on Cody Rhodes, forcing Rhodes to tap out to pick up the win.
In a rematch from RAW, Elimination Chamber participant “The Real American” Jack Swagger, with his new manager and family friend, Zeb Colter, in his corner, would go one-on-one with Zack Ryder on SmackDown. In the end, it was Jack Swagger locking in the Patriot Act on Zack Ryder, forcing Ryder to tap out to pick up the win. After the match, Jack Swagger re-introduces Zeb Colter, calling Zeb a “real American”. Zeb then speaks, saying that “all men are created equal”, but it is the choices that define people. Zeb then calls Zack Ryder a “clown”, saying that Ryder is more concerned with his “hair and tan” than with the country that he lives in. Colter then declares that he and Swagger known how to “fix” what is wrong with America.
Two nights before he challenges Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight Championship at Elimination Chamber, the main event of SmackDown would see “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show going one-on-one with one of the six participants in the Elimination Chamber Match this Sunday, “Y2J” Chris Jericho. During the match, the angry Big Show would be looking to take out his frustrations on Chris Jericho, even tossing Jericho over the announce table at one point in the match! Later on in the match, Big Show would catch Jericho with a huge chokeslam, but Jericho would manage to roll to the outside of the ring. Big Show then hoists a nearly lifeless Jericho and throws him back into the ring before going for a huge elbow drop, but, thankfully for Jericho, he is able to roll out of the way. Shortly after this, Jericho would try his absolute best to turn the giant over into the Walls of Jericho, but Big Show would power out and Jericho would take a run at Big Show, but the giant would catch Jericho with the K.O. Punch out of nowhere, pinning Jericho to pick up an impressive win! After the match, Big Show locks eyes with the World Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Del Rio, who had come out to the staging area.
